Evening Hymns are sung from the cathedrals of tall trees. They capture the spirit of moments, of friends around a bonfire on a foggy beach, the crunching of snowshoes in the silence of a winter night and memories of tribal boys growing up with pellet guns, fishing rods, and handmade forts.

Born in Bromham, Bedfordshire in 1974, Matt Berry graduated with a degree in Contemporary Arts from Nottingham Trent University, where he regularly performed in several bands. Starting his career as a runner, he then became a presenter for a video game magazine show before concentrating on comedy, landing roles in cult show Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, The Mighty Boosh, and his most famous role, Douglas Reynholm in The I.T. Crowd. Berry continued to juggle his musical ambitions with his TV work, penning the musical theater parody, AD/BC: A Rock Opera, for Channel 4, composing music for Saxondale, The Peter Serafinowicz Show, and sketch show Blunder, and releasing his self-funded debut album, Opium, for free through his website in 2008. After appearing in the films Moon and The Devil's Chair, and hosting his own slot on Absolute Radio, he signed to Acid Jazz Records, where he recorded and played every instrument on his '70s prog-folk/rock-inspired sophomore album, Witchazel. Featuring vocals from Paul McCartney (Rain Came Down), it was released in 2011 on the back of a U.K. tour with his Brighton-based experimental backing band Jonas 3, and a collaboration with the Bluetones' frontman Mark Morriss under the guise of the Swedish Twins.

Formed in the final few months of 2011, PINS began to cause a stir with their debut release - the moody Eleventh Hour backed with the punchier Shoot You - in spring 2012. Self released through their own HAUS OF PINS label as an edition of 50 gold cassettes, it sold out within 2 hours, starting a whirlwind few months that ended with the band signed to Bella Union and with another sought after release under their belts with the LUVU4LYF EP.
Comparisons are often lazily made with other bands, but whilst listing potential reference points is easier, feeling the mood of each song is a lot more rewarding, from the combative eponymous EP opener LUVU4LYF through to the languid heat of You don't need to be and everything in between. The Wizards from Kansas started off in the late 60′s playing festivals alongside other, more well known bands. They have a disc of late 60′s outtakes and alternate versions that are trippier and more psych oriented than the above album, considered as one of the best San Francisco style acid guitar lps. Anyone into the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, the Youngbloods or H.P. Lovecraft will really appreciate this great, unknown record.
