The album is paradoxical with dark subject matter enveloped in a sound that is warm and inviting, like Gillian Welch singing passages from Edgar Allen Poe. Lindsay Fuller is paradoxical because, if you’re paying attention, these dark themes are not depressing. In fact, at least for me, her words have an opposite effect. The songs are uplifting. "A three piece, the band’s home-crafted brand of Acid Folk is a far more idiosyncratic, rough hewn take than you’ve become used to। Recording in a series of bedrooms, the trio even went as far as lunking their equipment out to the countryside. The grainy, damaged recordings could be viewed as a band attempting to get a gritty, authentic feel but in fact the opposite is true.
