Snatch and The Poontangs (1969) είναι δίσκος των Johnny και Shuggie Otis με τον Delmar Evans (φωνητικά). Απευθύνεται σε ενήλικες καθώς οι στίχοι είναι σεξουαλικοί.
Johnny Otis (Ioannis Alexandres Veliotes) έχει ποστάρει και η Λένια παλιότερα. Εδώ παίζει όλα τα όργανα με τη συνδρομή του 13χρονου γιου του, Shuggie Otis ως "Prince Wunnerful", στην κιθάρα(!). Ο Shuggie προφανώς είναι μουσικός πλέον. Δυστυχώς δε βρήκα τους στίχους...

Icelandic band Mr. Silla performs Stevie Nicks’ “Wild Heart” live on KEXP. Mr. Silla is a relatively new band from Sigurlaug Gísladóttir (aka Silla), one of the frontwomen of múm, one of Iceland’s most prolific exports. Another Icelandic “supergroup”, Mr. Silla features members of Sin Fang, amiina, Seabear, Kimono and other bands.

Celebrating its anniversary in 2012, Light In The Attic’s 10 year is releasing a series of very special colored vinyl 7”s and digital downloads. The series features contemporary artists covering a track reissued by Light In The Attic on the A-side, plus the original version on the B-side.
On this release, Mark Lanegan applies his tobacco-flavored tones to ‘Same Old Man’, a traditional made famous by the haunting New York singer-songwriter Karen Dalton. What Dalton achieves with the traditional instruments of America (notably her celebrated banjo) in her 1971 arrangement, Lanegan re-imagines with strings, droning Indian tones, sitars and sub-continent-sized production.

Odetta Holmes (1930-2008), known as Odetta, was an American singer, actress, guitarist, songwriter, and a civil and human rights activist, often referred to as “The Voice of the Civil Rights Movement”. Her musical repertoire consisted largely of American folk music, blues, jazz and spirituals. An important figure in the American folk music revival of the 1950s and 1960s, she was influential to many of the key figures of the folk-revival of that time, including Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Mavis Staples and Janis Joplin.

The single consists of Burial mixes of Massive Attack’s previously unreleased track “Four Walls” and “Paradise Circus” featured in their 2010 album “Heligoland”.

"Williams isn't just eccentric, she's wacky as hell with her songwriting. Her muses are contortionists who ramble - sometimes it's nonsense and sometimes it's something a little less nonsensical. They are strange and they couldn't care what anyone else thinks about it. There's probably no chance that it could be changed anyway. She makes her songs wonderful abstractions of fantastical imagery and the kind of drifting focus that allows them to bend in many directions, never filling in the blanks in the ways that you'd ever suspect. You can just let yourself feel like a loon as you sing along. It's escapism and you can and should do it in your underwear. It is the default setting".

Richard Hawley is an English guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer. After his first band Treebound Story (formed while he was still at school) broke up, Hawley found success as a member of Britpop band Longpigs in the 1990s. After that group broke up in 2000, he later joined the band Pulp, led by his friend Jarvis Cocker, for a short time.
“Standing at the Sky’s Edge” (2012) is his seventh album.

Suicide is an American duo that was one component of the late 1970s punk scene on the Lower East Side of New York City, USA. They are also considered to be one of the precusors of the no wave movement that started in the mid-70s and went into the mid-80s. The band consists of Alan Vega and Martin Rev, who used farfisa organs, synthesizers, and drum machines to create their trademark sound. While widely unconsidered and largely disliked during their beginnings, their 1977 self-titled album is considered to be one of the most influential albums of the punk movement and has influenced countless others, including The Jesus and Mary Chain and R.E.M. The grander influence of Suicide's electronic primitivism can be heard in the later music movements of synth-pop, electroclash, techno, and industrial music.

Οι Sancho 003 δημιουργήθηκαν την άνοιξη του 2007 από τους Θεσσαλονικείς Φώτη Σιώτα (βιολί, βιόλα, πλήκτρα, φωνή) και Κώστα Παντέλη (ηλεκτρική κιθάρα). Και οι δυο είναι γνωστοί για τις μουσικές τους συνεργασίες (ο Φώτης έχει συνεργαστεί μεταξύ άλλων με Θανάση Παπακωνσταντίνου, Σωκράτη Μάλαμα, Γιάννη Αγγελάκα και ο Κώστας υπήρξε μέλος των Πίσσα & Πούπουλα και έχει συνεργαστεί επίσης με Θανάση Παπακωνσταντίνου και Γιάννη Αγγελάκα), αλλά το project των Sancho 003 είναι εντελώς διαφορετικό από οτιδήποτε έχουν κάνει στο παρελθόν.
Το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους, με τίτλο Muzga, κυκλοφόρησε το 2012 από την Inner Ear.

"When something ain't broke around here, we don't fix it," Howe Gelb sings on "AAAA (1)", giving the unofficial slogan for the fictitious Arizona Amp and Alternator, his new, possibly one-off moniker and the concept behind this self-titled album. The prolific Gelb has been doing similar and similarly tossed-off records like this for years, both as a solo artist and with the band Giant Sand. This new project is more conceptual than his usual m.o. and occasionally the mechanic's garage motif seems intrusive, especially on the four "AAAA" songs, which may have something to do with being blue in a red state. Regardless, Arizona Amp and Alternator on the whole captures the pace of a hot afternoon spent lounging in the shade, spouting lawn-chair philosophy over arid desert folk and waiting for the next stranded driver with a stalled automobile". Απ' ότι βλέπω στο wikipedia, o Souleyman είναι Σύρος μουσικός (ελπίζω να μην τον έχω βομβαρδίσει!), ο οποίος έχει αναγνωριστεί διεθνώς πλέον. Έχει βγάλει 5 δίσκους, παίζει σε φεστιβάλ και έχει συνεργαστεί και με τους Gorrilaz σε ένα τραγούδι που δεν έχουν βγάλει ακόμα. Το εντυπωσιακό είναι ότι έχουν κυκλοφορήσει 500 περίπου δίσκοι υπό το όνομά του, το 80% των οποίων είναι από μουσική που έπαιζε σε γάμους. Μετά έδινε ένα cd στο ζευγάρι. Πολλά από αυτά αντιγράφονταν και πωλούνταν κανονικά...

Jane Weaver is a long established and self-sufficient singer-songwriter, performer and producer of music from the North of England. Alongside a discography of six self-penned albums she also runs the femme odd-pop imprint Bird Records through Finders Keepers Records. Her latest conceptual folkloric record project, The Fallen By Watch Bird, comprised modern artists alongside latter day legends like Wendy & Bonnie and Susan Christie on tracks that have since been rearranged by Demdike Stare and The Focus Group under the title Watchbird Alluminate. The latest incarnation of this project explores its literary form, presented in the style of a childrens Ladybird book in collaboration with Mancunian filmmakers/illustrators Kluncklick (Yo Gabba Gabba/Bobby Conn).
